The Beyond Salon is a working salon inside Beyond 21st Century Beauty Academy, where cosmetology, esthetician, and manicuring students serve clients under the supervision of licensed instructors. You get a full-service hair, skin, or nail experience at student-clinic pricing — and our students get the real-world hours they need to earn their California State Board license.
Every service at the Beyond Salon is performed by an enrolled student, with a state-licensed instructor watching the work and signing off before you leave. Our cosmetology, esthetician, and manicuring students train for hundreds of hours before they're cleared to work on the public — and the work they do here counts toward their state-board exam eligibility. That's why it costs less. You're not paying retail for a senior stylist; you're paying student-clinic prices for a service that has to be done right, because a licensed instructor will not approve it otherwise.

Allow extra time. The work is precise and instructor-reviewed, which is slower than a commercial salon. Plan your visit accordingly.
Book ahead. We accept appointments through our booking site. Walk-ins are not guaranteed.
Tipping is welcome but never expected. Students appreciate tips, but it's entirely up to you.
Bring a reference. For color, cuts, or nail art, bring 1–2 photos of the look you're going for. It helps the student and the instructor calibrate.
Tell us about allergies and sensitivities. Especially before any color, chemical, or wax service.
Q: Who actually performs the service?
A: A Beyond student, supervised by a state-licensed cosmetology, esthetician, or manicuring instructor. The instructor reviews and signs off on every service before you leave.
Q: Do you take walk-ins?
A: We prioritize booked appointments. Walk-ins are accepted if a student is available, but not guaranteed.
Q: Do you offer Spanish-speaking service?
A: Many of our students and instructors speak Spanish. Let us know when you book if you'd prefer to be served in Spanish.
Q: Can I tip the student?
A: Yes, and it's appreciated — but never required. Tips go directly to the student.
Q: Where do I park?
A: Free parking is available in the lot directly in front of the school.
Q: What if I'm not happy with the result?
A: Tell the instructor before you leave. They'll redo the service or escalate. Don't walk out unhappy — we want the chance to fix it.
