Your Los Angeles Beauty School
Los Angeles is too big for any single beauty school to serve every neighborhood. Beyond 21st Century Beauty Academy serves the southeast Los Angeles area specifically — communities like East Los Angeles, Boyle Heights, Bell Gardens, Maywood, Commerce, and the cities along the 5 and 605 freeway corridors. Our campus is in Santa Fe Springs, approximately 25 minutes from Downtown LA via the 5 freeway and considerably less from neighborhoods on the east and southeast sides of the city.
We offer three career-focused programs, all approved by the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology and accredited by NACCAS:
Cosmetology School — 1,000 hours California's most versatile beauty license. Covers hair cutting, coloring, chemical services, skincare fundamentals, and nail services. Day and part-time schedules available. Total cost: $17,560. Financial aid available to those who qualify.
Esthetician School — 600 hours Skincare-focused training with a Dermalogica-integrated curriculum. Facials, waxing, chemical peels, brow lamination, lash services, and more. As an official Dermalogica partner school, students receive a Dermalogica kit at enrollment and attend field trips to Dermalogica's global headquarters. Day and evening options. Full-time completion in as little as 5 months. Total cost: $11,206.50.
Nail Tech School — 400 hours The fastest path to a California beauty license. Includes Gel-X, acrylics, nail art, manicures, and pedicures. As an official Aprés Nail certified school, every graduate receives the Aprés Gel-X Certification at no extra cost. Evening classes available. Total cost: $5,595.

Our students drive in from Bell Gardens, Maywood, Pico Rivera, Downey, Commerce, and the broader southeast LA area, and many of them tell us we were the only NACCAS-accredited program within a reasonable commute that didn't require sitting on a community college waitlist. Los Angeles is also the densest beauty market in the country, and that cuts both ways: our Salon Finder tracks 2,977 licensed salons and spas inside the City of Los Angeles and 15,551 across LA County. For a new licensee that means openings exist year-round — and it means the salons hiring you have their pick. That's why we don't treat the State Board exam as the finish line. Passing it makes you legal to work; it doesn't make you hireable. The clinic floor is where you learn the part the exam doesn't test: how to consult a client who doesn't know what she wants, how to keep a schedule, how to rebook.
Beyond 21st Century Beauty Academy was founded in 1997 by Miss Maria — a two-time Teacher of the Year and CCA School Owner of the Year — with over 47 years of experience in the industry. We've graduated over 2,100 licensed beauty professionals from across LA County. Our campus at 13640 Imperial Highway in Santa Fe Springs is reachable from most southeast LA neighborhoods in 15–25 minutes via the 5, the 605, or surface streets like Imperial Highway, Whittier Boulevard, or Atlantic Boulevard.
Financial Aid
Federal financial aid — including Pell Grants — is available to eligible students in our cosmetology and esthetician programs. Because Beyond is NACCAS-accredited and approved by the U.S. Department of Education for Title IV aid, many Los Angeles–area students significantly reduce their out-of-pocket costs.
