Esthetician School Evening Classes in LA County

If you're holding down a daytime job and you want to become a licensed esthetician in California, you have fewer real evening options than the search results make it look. Most beauty schools list "flexible scheduling" but quietly assume you can come in during the day. Here's what an actual evening esthetician program looks like at Beyond — schedule, timeline, cost, and how working adults make it work.

How the evening esthetician program runs

Beyond's esthetician program is 600 hours total — that's the California state requirement to qualify for the licensing exam. The evening track meets:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday — 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM
  • Saturday — 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (typical schedule; ask for the current cohort calendar)

That structure was built specifically for students who work daytime hours. You finish your work day, eat dinner, and come straight to class. Saturday is the longer practical day where you have more time to spend on hands-on practice and in our student clinic.

How long it takes

The day full-time esthetician program completes in as few as 5 months. The evening pace runs longer because you're attending fewer hours per week — typically around 7.5 months depending on the cohort schedule and any time off. That's a real timeline to plan around if you're saving up, lining up childcare, or coordinating with a partner's schedule.

Once you complete the 600 hours, you sit for the California State Board esthetician written exam (we have a free practice exam to help you prep). After you pass, you're licensed — usually within 2–4 weeks of finishing school.

What you'll actually learn

The Beyond esthetician curriculum is built around real services you'll perform on real clients in our student spa. By the time you graduate, you'll have learned:

  • Facials, deep-cleansing facials, and corrective treatments
  • Chemical peels and exfoliation services (light and moderate strengths)
  • Brow shaping, brow lamination, and lash lifts
  • Body and facial waxing
  • Makeup application — including bridal and special-event
  • Skin analysis and product recommendation using Dermalogica protocols

Beyond is an official Dermalogica partner school, which means our curriculum is built on Dermalogica's professional product line and the company sends representatives to train our students directly. That partnership matters once you're job-hunting — Dermalogica certification on a resume opens doors at med spas and high-end studios across LA County.

What it costs

Total tuition for the esthetician program at Beyond is $11,206.50. That's well below the LA County average for esthetician programs, and it includes your student kit and testing-prep materials.

For working adults, the financial-aid math often looks better than expected:

  • Pell Grants up to $4,930/year (2025–26) for those who qualify for the maximum— money you don't repay.
  • Federal student loans for the remainder if needed.
  • Tuition payment plans for students paying out of pocket.
  • Beyond's FAFSA school code is 041482.

Where graduates work

A licensed esthetician in the LA market can control their earning power, especially once they go independent. It takes time and experience but many of our students seek to open their own business to control their schedule and work around their personal responsibilities. After Beyond, our graduates typically work in:

  • Day spas and resort spas
  • Med spas (often as the front-line skincare specialist for the dermatologist)
  • Lash and brow studios
  • Skincare studios they own themselves (some graduates open within 2–3 years or sooner)
  • Retail (Sephora, Ulta, brand training roles for companies like Dermalogica)

Who the evening esthetician program is right for

If any of these describe you, the evening track was built for you:

  • You have a full-time daytime job and aren't ready to leave it yet.
  • You're a parent and the only window in your day is after the kids are in bed.
  • You're switching careers and want to build the new one before quitting the old one.
  • You're focused on skincare specifically (not hair) and don't need the broader cosmetology license.

If you can attend during the day, the day full-time track gets you licensed faster. But if "I can't quit my job to go to school" is the obstacle, the evening track removes that obstacle.

Schedule a tour — including evening tours

The best way to know if the evening program fits is to come see a class in session. We do campus tours in the evenings specifically so working adults can come after work, meet our instructors, and see the student spa in action.

Call (562) 404-6193 or schedule a tour online. We're located at 13640 Imperial Highway in Santa Fe Springs, about 15–20 minutes from most of southeast LA County and north Orange County.
